QUINCY was born some time in 2008. He came into rescue in Nov 2017 at the age of 9. We had just lost 2 of our goldens, Sherman & Barkley. We weren’t used to having just one dog and our remaining golden, Reagan was lonely and needed a friend. Quincy was described as a playful boy, who loved people, dogs, balls and swimming. Quincy fit right into our home and he loved time in the pool and daily walks.
At 15 yrs he was still excited when people came to the house. He enjoyed the pool over the years, although the last 2 summers he would rather just stay indoors (out of the heat) and take a nap. He loved going for a walk and used to do over a mile each day, but the last few years, he thought ½ mile was far enough. He never lost his “need” for food. He was a typical golden, always hungry and reminded you daily when he should be given meals and treats. He was a BIG ice eater. His hearing got bad over the last year, but until just recently he could hear the ice maker giving ice and be right there. Quincy loved car rides, particularly when they went to DQ or Starbucks for a pup cup. Unlike some of our previous goldens, he loved soft toys, in particular, his duck and lamb. One of his favorite things to do was pull the fur from his duck and lamb. He was quite the ball chaser in his time. He liked playing with Reagan, but he had to be the instigator of the play time. Reagan was much bigger than him.
Quincy was a Rescue A Golden (RAG) ambassador. He did home visits with Mom, and attended several of our Meet and Greets. He won the cutest golden contest and was on the cover of the rescue calendar for 2021. He was named one of the 2 oldest goldens in RAG for the 2024 RAG calendar and shared the title with Harley. Sadly both he and Harley went to the Rainbow Bridge within 2 weeks of one another.
We lost Reagan July 14, 2023. Quincy went down hill from that day on and let us know 3 weeks later, he was ready to join Reagan. We wish we could have had more time with him, but know he is running free at the Rainbow Bridge with Reagan seeking out treats or anything to eat. We are grateful to Rescue A Golden for letting Quincy join our family. He was a special boy. RIP Big Boy. You were well loved and will always be in our hearts.
