On December 22, 2004, I adopted Takoma from Rescue A Golden. With overwhelming sadness and grief, I made the difficult decision today to send him over the rainbow bridge and find his next purpose in life. At the time we adopted him we were told he was about 2 years old, but other records indicate that he may have been 3 ½. He’s more of a Lab than a Golden, but your wonderful volunteers rescued him and brought him into my life. He has been the most amazing, special dog and I am so grateful that we found each other. I know we all have had dogs that we are close to and Takoma is one of those very special dogs to me. He has been my 4-legged soulmate for the past 12 years. He’s been my loyal companion, bed partner and best friend. He was my rock and my confidant. Many days I liked him a lot more than my husband.

About 4 years ago he had a massive cancerous tumor removed. He recovered from that and did really well until about 4-5 months ago. He grew another huge mass that was removed in Oct 2016. The last month or so another huge tumor appeared and has grown right next to where the mass was removed in Oct. He also has another lump growing at the top and bottom of the incision. There’s also a lump growing on his chest, under his neck and on his back leg. He struggles to sit down and get up. He never whines in pain, but he obviously doesn’t feel good. He wanders around the house like a lost soul. His tail is always between his legs. It has been sad to watch his decline and while I love him with all my heart and soul, it was time to let his body rest and allow his soul to move on.

At the age of 14-16, we have put him at peace. I wanted RAG to know and thank you all for bringing a great guy into my life.
