My wife and I began as foster parents for Mitchell in Jan of 2006, but failed utterly as fosters, in that within a short period of time it became clear that Mitchell was destined to have our home as his forever home. We had wanted a senior dog, and Mitchell was over 7 at the time, but we had no idea this great heart would be with us for 9 more years. So we had nearly a decade of hip-hugs and ‘funny-face’, of squeaky toy and hand-holding, of greeting rituals and the most expressive ears you can ever imagine. In the end, 9 years was simply too short a time to spend with such a great dog. Mitchell, you are my wonder-dog and always shall be.
