Rescue a Golden of Arizona

Adopted April 1 2025

Wrigley & Marley

Please help RAGofAZ rescue more dogs like us!

Let's start with Wrigley, the Golden. She is the most precious and loving dog. I'm already able to let her off her leash on the morning walks in the greenbelt behind my house. She just loves getting petted by the passersby and has no aggression towards other dogs. She's pretty timid though at times.
She stays by my side almost all the time at home, and even at the dog parks she needs to keep one eye on me.
She loves bringing me toys too. And one of the main reasons I wanted Goldens, is because I believed most of them love the water. Wrigley LOVES the water and swims and hangs out with me.
Marley, well, what can I say, she's an amazing dog and I love her to death, but she's not a Golden, nor has any genes of a Golden. I had a DNA test done on her and she's almost 60% Great Pyrenees. 22% Anatolian Shepard, 13% Labrador Retriever, and 6% German Shepard.
As I wouldn't trade her for the world now, I was a little disappointed she had no Golden in her. Especially coming from a Golden rescue. I never had Goldens before, so I just thought she was a different type of Golden.
She has some health wise challenges, she's a barker I'm trying to calm her of, but it's in her trait is what I read. And she's deathly afraid of the water.
She loves people and babies, but not other dogs. I tried letting her off the leash a couple of times with Wrigley, and both times she just took off. 1st time I found her 7 blocks away, 2nd time, 4 blocks away.
However, she is a very loving and protective dog, and she actually now sleeps with me in bed every night. 🙂
I really think she needs a bigger yard to run around in. I feel bad that my yard is limited to mostly a pool area that she just runs around. She actually fell in once and luckily, I was home and she was clinging to the side of the pool and Wrigley was trying to grab her collar to pull her out, but I grabbed her and showed her how to get out just in case it ever happens again.
But as the old cliche goes, I didn't just rescue them, they also rescued me and fill my heart every day.
