Rescue a Golden of Arizona

Adopted March 2 2025

Rosie

Please help RAGofAZ rescue more dogs like us!

Rosie and I are a bonded pair. It took two years for me to find a dog that had the qualities I needed. We were all so fortunate. RAG needed a home that would never have her around other dogs, due to her prior life. And we did it! It's just the two of us and that's perfect.
She is gradually becoming a studio dog when I have art students that are OK with dogs. And if I am not actively teaching she is always with me when I am painting privately.
She doesn't bark, except for at the pool guy. Not a doorbell barker. Is OK with all adults. Loves my grandsons, 14 and 19, and looked for them after they returned home to California.
She started out in her crate when I had to be away for several hours, and we have now worked our way up to her remaining uncrated, sleeping on my bed if I am gone longer. She is great at holding her pee, sleeps through the night, with me, and is a quiet sleeper. Only one accident, but I was the one responsible for that! The thunderstorms last night did not cause her alarm. All she wanted extra belly rubs!
She has a cauliflower ear that causes her ongoing ear infections. My Chaparral vet says she has a narrow ear canal, and that will be ongoing. She gets ear flushes at home once a week.has had two flushes at the vet.
She does not drink any water! None! I put 1 1/2 Cups of water in her kibble so she gets 3 C's a day, and plenty of ice cubes. Vet approved.
Seasonal allergies and we are working on that too.
Her foster family was concerned that she would not pee on gravel, having grown accustomed to grass, but we solved that one too. She's a fast learner and eager to please.
We play ball every day so she does get some exercise, and I have mental stimulation games for her to play.
Rosie has a wonderful disposition. Very affectionate. She just came over to tell me to get off the computer by putting her heard in my lap!
