Frida now Kaiah
I love Kaiah so very much! I take photos every time we are out.
The very first night that Kaiah arrived, she made herself at home in her spot. She sleeps with me and loves to be brushed which is great because this is my first dog with a big double coat. She obviously has had a lot of love and attention from some very caring people.
Her story was that when she was in Mexico, she was kicked and set out in the streets with a broken leg. After surgery to have pins in her, leg she received a lot of therapy. I was told that even through her pain, she was always a kind and joyful dog. She was placed in a family home in Arizona and recently rehomed to me.
Boy am I lucky and boy is she spoiled. She gets special organ meat from the local butcher who love and adore her.
She is the perfect mix of a loving Golden retriever and silly Australian Shepherd.
Kaiah s absolutely fabulous with car rides. She even runs to the door so she doesn't miss out on any adventures. Her health records indicated that she was very nervous in cars and was medicated because she would get sick. The first outing, she was a little hesitant but now absolutely no problems. She has never gotten car sick or never gets stressed. She is a good baby girl.
She goes everywhere with me.
Some of her favorite places are Tractor Supply where she has met chickens and ducks and many friends.
Kaiah makes visits to the Daisy Mountain fire department giving hugs and therapy to the first responders. She goes for weekly pup cups at a variety of local coffee shops and sits with everyone she meets without being asked to do so.
Oh and by the way she takes her treats to her spot and patiently waits for her food after doing a cute little Australian Shepherd twirly dance.
She is great with kids of all ages and was visited the Desert Foothills library children's department and is teaching kids how to properly approach a dog.
She has met a very special person with Parkinson's that I volunteer with. She just makes everybody feel happy and calm.
I have been very careful to build trust with her, never putting her in an uncomfortable situation. She has never met a person that she doesn't love. We go to a beautiful pickleball Park in Scottsdale and she loves to just watch. It also has great grassy areas for dogs. She is nonreactive and has a few friends that she watches play. She is learning from her new Aussie friend and is not food possessive. We play a game every night before we go to sleep. I give her a special treat. I asked her to wait and then I ask her if I can have it back. We do that about 4 or 5 times and then she joyfully goes her own way to enjoy it at the end of my bed.
She would rather be a snuggle bug then play with toys. That is quite different for me because my two previous dogs were Golden retriever registered therapy dogs who were ball and frisbee obsessed.
She will walk forever, however is not fond of the heat. She is very good about wearing boots , as I am a huge advocate for protecting or furry friends.
She already has had hundreds of adventures with me all of which she happily contributes to.
There are absolutely no triggers... She has been to restaurants and goes to listen to local music. She loves everybody is not easily startled, calm and interactive... and thinks she's a great big snuggly cat.
I could not have anticipated having such a great fit for me and for Kaiah. She is quite the dreamer. I always wonder what happy things are going through her head when she sleeps at my feet. She does not Chase anything, however will very readily alert to javelinas. She is always leashed with me and walks perfectly. She's extremely bright and I always listen to her. I appreciate her good manners and willingness to learn more and more.
I think she would make an absolutely fabulous therapy dog. She's already working her magic. I have to have her for at least 6 months before I am allowed to have her certified and tested. I'm leaving it up to her.
Her favorite thing is to just be able to observe the beautiful world we live in.

She came to me as pretty much a lovely cream and pink color, however her coat is changing just about every day. Her ears are now a smoky gray and she has lovely black tips all over her cream-colored ruff.
I love her Yoda ears! And every bit of fluffy fur she adds to my life.
