Maggie’s is on the right in the first photo and left in 2nd two. She came to us about 8 weeks ago and we were very uneasy about keeping her. The puppy mill rescue route was rough. When we got her she wouldn’t go in/out a door, wag her tail or eat kibble/treats, much less go on a walk or want to get near us. It was a very difficult road but with the help of RAG we pushed through the difficult times and one seemingly small comment from Sam (behavior therapist) changed the direction of our experience! She told me that Maggie would have to do things she didn’t want to do. That’s it!! That little comment helped me realize that for the first 3 weeks we had done everything we could as a family to get her to trust us and not scare her (which is also important) but after that comment I brought her home and gave her a much needed bath and started putting her on a leash in our backyard. She DID NOT want to do it but slowly and daily we transitioned to leaving the house through our gate (doors were still a problem) Now she not only goes in/out several different doors, she wants love, wags her tail and goes on our daily 2 mile walk!! It is honestly the best feeling to see how far she’s come and how happy she is! Maggie is still a work in progress as she still cowers at loud noises and is scared of most new things but with the help of our family and Zoe our Golden Lab she has the support to continue this progress. We made it official a couple weeks ago! We love our new addition Maggie!! And Zoe does too!!
