Rescue a Golden of Arizona

Adopted September 10, 2023

Lily

Please help RAGofAZ rescue more dogs like us!

Lily is doing quite well. She is still a bit clingy with me due to her former home being a single female. At our summer place I had to drive her to the dog park every few hours to do her business as she would not pee on the leash. We had been told that by the foster parent. But now we just open the back door and with some coaching she’ll run around the back yard. Her paws are fairly healed but she still likes to lick them. Her foster walked her a lot in Scottsdale in July. The paws are now soft, but as long as it is this hot I won’t walk her on the pavement.
Her vet in the mountains says sometimes when paws have been irritated a dog gets in the habit of licking them and once healed, they keep it up.
She is still shy and won’t go up to people on her own – which frankly is okay by me. She also doesn’t jump on the furniture which I also like. She’s really a good girl with funny quirks. When she begs for food, she almost grunts.
So she is adapting as are we.
