Volunteers – the heart and soul of rescue

For every Golden Retriever that is rescued from neglect, homelessness, despair – or simply needs a new home – there is a dedicated cadre of volunteers working behind the scenes on behalf of that dog.

From the moment we learn that a Golden needs us, our volunteers spring into action. Our highly organized teams pitch in to arrange for the surrender of the dog, the search for potential adopters, transportation to a foster or adopter’s home, and veterinarian care to restore the animal to health and vigor. Others handle phone calls, home visits, donations, membership, events, fundraising, governance, and the technology needs of our organization. Excellent training is always provided.

We asked … you answered!

Our most recent appeal for volunteers was so successful, we now find ourselves with a happy dilemma. All of our teams and positions are now filled, and we are reluctant to add more people than we can capably train. So for the moment, we are holding off on accepting new volunteer applications. Like any animal rescue, however, our needs ebb and flow. Please watch this space for opportunities as they become available.

Meanwhile, why not take a closer look at the variety of volunteer positions we offer so you’ll be ready when these jobs open. Visit this page for detailed job descriptions that tell you what kinds of activities you may be doing and what skills sets we are seeking.

Here is one need that is ongoing – Foster Families!

Become a part of our foster team and provide a temporary home for a Golden in need. It’s incredibly rewarding! You’ll go through the same screening process as adoptive families. Once approved, you decide which dogs come into your home and provide daily care, training, and socialization. Of course, you will have the continual support of our vet care and behavioral teams. It’s a great way to help a Golden Retriever start its journey to a new life!
