Adopt a Senior Dog
If you want to adopt or foster a Golden Retriever, consider getting a senior dog. So many people want a puppy but seniors will give you love and companionship without the hassles of having a younger animal. They have been potty trained, are finished with the chewing and teething stage, are a little less energetic, and most of them know basic commands. Sometimes a senor Golden will have medical problems, but most are fine and healthy. Rudy #09-177 for instance is a twelve year old white faced guy who loves walks and riding in the car. Older Goldens can fit into your life with little trouble and won’t drive you crazy like a youngster would. Please visit our “Available Dogs” to check out Rudy and the other senior Goldens who are just waiting for you. Then give us a call or drop Joyce a line at intake@golden-retriever.org

Rescue A Golden of Arizona is a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization comprised entirely of volunteers. Our mission is to rescue abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted Goldens and find new homes for them. The organization was incorporated in October 1998 and has rescued over 2600 Golden Retrievers since then. Most often, upon intake, a Golden is placed with a foster or forever home, given a complete medical exam, brought up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (if necessary), tested for valley fever and heartworm, and microchipped. If the dog is ill and has a treatable condition or if the dog requires surgery, RAGofAZ pays for the treatment.
Volunteers are needed at every step in the actual Rescue process: Shelterwalking, Intake, Transport, Foster Homes, Home Visits, Placement, Adoption Follow-up and Vet Care Follow-up. Volunteers are also needed to help in the more peripheral areas of fundraising, and information-and-education events. Whether you can give 2 hours a month or 20 hours per week, there is a way you can help with our operation which will make it more successful.
If you would like to help – let us know - send an e-mail to volunteer@golden-retriever.org.
